For several weeks, some of Broadway's most exciting established and emerging choreographers, composers, dancers, and singers have been at work in every corner of Symphony Space, creating original pieces that celebrate and reimagine the honored tradition of song and dance. The results of their work will come to life for one-night-only in a thrilling program, Kicking & Screaming.
Led by Noah Racey (Curtains, White Christmas) and Lorin Latarro (Waitress, Les Liaisons Dangereuses), the choreographic lineup includes Sara Brians (resident choreographer for Matilda, Billy Elliot), Danny Gardner (Broadway by the Year), Whitney G-Bowley (GIG), Nick Kepley (assistant choreographer, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella), and Maxx Reed (Cats, West Side Story).
These cutting-edge dancemakers are collaborating with some of today's most vibrant musical theater composers: Debra Barsha, Jason Robert Brown, Eisa Davis, Sam Davis, Drew Fornarola, ShainaTaub, and Ben Wexler. In addition, they will be reinterpreting Broadway classics including songs by George M. Cohan, Cole Porter, Comden and Green, Stephen Sondheim, and more. The evening will be music directed by Charlie Alterman (Pippin, Godspell, Next to Normal).
Come join us as Kicking & Screaming celebrates the timeless fusion of song and dance, brought up to date by a forward-looking group of choreographers, composers, and lyricists — and the triple-threat performers who bring their work to life.
